    Character Information:

Ken Smith: 18 years old. Around 6'2. Has a lean body build and short black hair which he styles into Side Part Pompadour. Eye colour is green. Caucasian ethnicity.

Bella Dean: 17 years old. Around 5'6. Has a well toned body and a long blonde Asymmetrical Pixie haircut. Eye colour is blue. Caucasian ethnicity.

    Ken POV:

I sipped on my grape soda. Damn I hated the awkward situation I was in. It was a Saturday afternoon around. I was having lunch. I was eating at a very nice restaurant as well. So what was the problem? The problem was the one with whom I was eating. It was Bella, Bella Dean. Who is she? Well let's just say that she was my biggest rival. And when I say rival, I mean it. Our desire to be better than you one another extended from school all the to looks and beyond. Now why would two rivals be having lunch together? Well that's quite simple really, our parents forced us. You see, our parents as neighbours knew that we go to the same school and also knew about our rivalry. So they got together and decided to make us spend the week together and make amends. So far, the week had only started and I already wanted to die.

Ah man this sucks! She won't even say a word or even attempt to start a conversation with me. Then again, I'm not saying anything either...

I thought to myself while looking around the restaurant. I shifted my gaze towards her.

Look at her! She's dressed to impress, she has to be. Damn her parents made her look her best for this one didn't they?

I thought to myself. She was wearing a plain white shirt over which she wore a leather jacket accompanied by black jeans which made her look absolutely breathtaking.

I mean I'm sure they made her dress like that, why would she dress like that for me? I bet it's just as bad for her as it is for me... I wonder what she's thinking about right now.

    Bella POV:

It was terribly silent. We weren't saying anything to each other at all. I sipped on my dark coffee. This situation was awkward and annoying for me. Not only did have to eat with him, I also had to wear what I was wearing.

Why would mom make me wear this? Oh now his ass is going to get arrogant thinking I dressed good for him!

I thought to myself as I took another sip of my coffee. I focused my gaze towards him. I noticed him looking at me and wink with a smile on his face.

Look at how smug this guy is acting. He also dressed good, he actually looks alright today... His parents really gave him a good look huh? I mean why else would he dress good?

I thought to myself. He was wearing a white shirt the sleeves of which he rolled upto his elbows with black pants which made him look spectacularly stunning. He also had a black school bag with him as well.

    No POV:

"So, how're your tests going?" Ken asked finally breaking the silence.

"Yeah they're good, very good actually. What about you?"

"Oh you know just acing all the tests. As we both know, I was the one who scored the best in the school. Followed by you but that's just because you just can't get as good as me. In other words, you're second place." Ken replied leaning back on his chair with a smile.

"Oh that's great. But didn't I score better than you on... Every single tournament we've had at school? In other words, you're not even second place." She said whilst flashing a smile towards him. Ken leaned off of his chair.

"Anyways, you look good today." Ken said taking another sip of his soda.

"Thank you, my mother made me wear it."

    "I supposed so."

"Your parents made you look good today no?"

"Oh this? I wore this myself. I'm glad you liked it." Ken replied.

"Why would you dress like that?"

"Oh, I didn't want to dress bad for my first date." He replied with another wink. This pissed off Bella.

"Stop winking at me you idiot! Also, I didn't want to do this so don't get arrogant. Also also, this isn't a date, you couldn't make this into a date in your wildest dreams." Bella snapped flicking her hair.

"Fair enough, I was only joking."

"Yeah well don't joke, I don't like you why would I want to joke with you? I don't even want to be here!"

"Would you rather be here with Jason?" James asked. Bella glared at him with fire in her eyes.

    "What did you just say?"

"You know Jason, your boy- oh wait, he dumped you didn't he? Ha, well that's what happens when you have a bad taste in peop-"

"First of all, I dumped that cheating piece of crap. Secondly, don't say that assholes name again! God, I already don't like it here and you piss me off even more after saying that." She said cutting him off mid sentence.

    "Woah, ok."

"Also, bad taste? You're the guy drinking grape soda."

"Grape soda tastes great, you probably don't. Maybe that's why Jason cheated on you." Ken said taking a bite of his sandwich.

"Ok I'm leaving. Screw you." She said as she jumped to her feet and picked up her purse.

"You can't leave yet. Just sit."

"No, I'm done. Unless you daily sorry I wo-"

"Bro just please sit down I'm sorry." He pleaded. She sat down.

"I'm leaving after this." She said taking a bit of her sandwich.

"Listen, if you leave you'll just make it worse for both of us. Well have to spend longer together that way. So trust me an-"

"No one can trust what you'll do. One time you asked me for a few hundred bucks"

"Here we go again." Ken said rolling his eyes.

"Yeah here we go again! You still haven't returned me my money."

    "I'll return it soon."

"You said the exact same thing back then. It's been two whole weeks since and you sti-"

"Thanks." Ken said interrupting her mid sentence.

"What?" She asked puzzled why he had said what he did.

"I didn't say it back then so there, I did it now." He replied with a smile on his face and sincerity in his voice. "I don't know what I would've done if I didn't get the money. My friends couldn't lend me that much money because they're trying to help themselves. Honestly, I couldn't blame them. I felt so embarrassed asking you for money, but I knew that you had the resources. I genuinely felt like an idiot asking you to be honest, I thought you'd just make fun of me or say no blatantly. But you actually gave me money and helped me when I needed it most. Obviously you made fun of me for doing so but didn't say no. For that I want to thank you."

    Bella POV:

My heart dropped when I heard him say this. I had this urge to leap over the table and give him a huge hug.

"Oh uhh... It's cool." I replied not knowing what to say. "Hey listen, you can take your time with the money ok? I don't need it anytime soon." I informed him while smiling. He smiled back at me.

"See, when you're not being annoying, I can actually tolerate you." He said jokingly.

"And when you're being sincere and nice, I can actually tolerate you." I replied jokingly as well.

    10 minutes later:

Ken and Bella were walking down the street. It was currently 4:30 PM. Hours had passed. They were just walking around doing nothing when all of a sudden, Ken stopped walking. Bella stopped just a few steps ahead of him and turned to face him.

    "What's up?"

"Damnit! I forgot my... Something at home!"

    "Ok, and?"

"Well we need to go and get it!"

    "No way! I ain't going!"

"There you go again being selfish. I went to your house just now and I didn't say anything."

"Uhh fine! We'll go to your house! But it shouldn't take too long."

"Oh don't worry, I know a shortcut from here to my house. It'll only take a couple of minutes. Just follow me." He said as he turned and entered the alleyway to his right He walked in a few steps before turning to see that Bella hadn't moved an inch. "Come on then."

"Can't we just take the normal way to your house?"

"Huh? Just a minute ago you minded taking long. Now you're fine with it?" He asked.

"I just don't like alleyways ok? So can we just..."

"How about no? Now come on." He said walking in deeper. Bella followed closely behind.

    Ken POV:

We had been walking for a minute or two by now. We weren't talking to each other. Just walking. Everytime I'd say something, she wouldn't reply.

"Bella, Bella." I called her name but no answer came. "Bel I-"

"I told you not to call me that moron!" She snapped at me.

    "You're not listening to me!"

    "Fine, what is it?"

"Stay with me and don't say a word once we make this next turn." I told her.

"And why should I do that?"

"Just do it. Also, take my hand."

"Im not doing that." She said to me. I took a deep breath and gripped her hand tightly. "Let go of me!" She shouted. I ignored her attempts to real free from grip and pulled her along with me.

    No POV:

The two of them went around the corner.

"Stay quite ok?" He said before whistling three times with each whistle having it's own instinct sound.

"What the hell are you doing?" Bella whispered to him.

"It's a greeting." He whispered in reply

"A greeting? To who?" She asked.

"To them." Ken replied gesturing for her to look in front of her. She turned her head and saw the man he was greeting. There were five men whom were visible. There were two Hispanic men both of whom had no shirt and were filled with tattoo's. Two were black and had multiple rings on their fingers with the one in the middle having a necklace with the letter 'B' on it as well. The last one was the biggest out of everyone there. He looked like he was Caucasian and was also bald.

"Yo K! Glad to see you again man." Said the man with the necklace.

"Stay quite and go with the flow." Ken whispered to Bella. "Same to you man." Ken said walking to him and hugging him.

"Who's this dime here?" He asked while looking at Bella.

"This here is my girl Michel." Ken lied.

"Ah so you got yourself a fine one. Ok then, enjoy her." He said with a wink. "Anyways, you got the gram?"

"You know me T. Here's the pack and here's extra." Ken took out two small boxes no bigger than a carton of milk each from his bag and handed them to him. The man inspected the contents of the boxes for a second before clicking his fingers and gesturing for the Hispanic men besides him to hand him something. They handed him two big stacks of cash.

"Here's the pay." He handed him the cash. "And here's the tip for the extra service." He said handing him another smaller stack of cash. Ken counted the cash and popped it into his bag.

"Aight man, this is good. Call me if you need more, I got more." Ken said.

"Yeah man, I trust no one more than you for this."

"See you then." Ken said as he shook his hand one last time.

    20 Minutes Later:

"My house is coming up around the corner here." Ken informed. Bella walked besides him with her arms crossed. "Are you angry that I said you're my girl?" He asked.

"You're a gangster?" Bella asked topping dead in her tracks. Ken stopped and turned to face her

    "Of course not."

"Ken, I'm not stupid. The whistling, their weird appearance. You were trading drugs weren't you?"

"I do what I have to so I can provide for my family."

"Ken, there are alternatives. You don't need to-"

"I've already tried. It's not enough. This pays up and is enough to provide for me and my parents."

"I get that it pays good, I'm sure it does. But do you think your parents would want their son to be involved in this? Once you find your true self, you'll leave all of this behind." She replied. Ken thought about it for a second. "I'll let you think about it. For now, let's go get whatever it is you need." Ken nodded in agreement.

After long, they reached his house. It was fairly big for a family of three. It was a two story house. Ken knocked on the front door thrice and stepped back. A few seconds later, an old woman opened the door.

"Grandma!" Ken said as he hugged her.

"I just came over for a little bit while you were out." She looked over at Bella. "Hello dear." She greeted her.

"Oh, hi." She responded with an appropriate greeting.

"You were just a little boy yesterday Kenny. Now you have a girlfriend of your own."

"Oh no grandma, she's a.. Uhh..."

    "I'm his classmate."

"Yeah she's a classmate of mine. Anyways, grandma are mom and dad home?" Ken asked.

"Yes, they're in the tv lounge. We were watching a movie just now." She replied.

"Sorry for interrupting then." Ken said.

"It's ok, we're not bothered at all. Come in." She said finally letting them into the house. Ken took his shoes off and ran to the tv lounge where his mother and father were reclining on a red couch.

"Mom, dad." Ken said His mother and father turned their heads away from the tv to look at him.

"Hey Kenny! Where's Bella?" They asked.

"She's here, were having a great time together." He said. "Anyways, we just dropped by to grab something. We should only be here for a few hours in my room."

    "Ok, enjoy yourselves."

    Kens Bedroom:

"This place is so clean. For someone like you, I'm impressed."

"I don't need you to be impressed."

    "You should consider yourself lucky."

    "How so?"

"You have such nice parents, while my I'm and dad are both so mean to me." Bella said as she sat in his bed. Ken sat near his window on a chair.

"Why would you say your parents are mean?"

"There are multiple reasons loser, I'd be here all day listing them." Ken crossed his arms.

    "Try me."

    "Rapid fire?"

    "Call it whatever."

"Ok... My dad doesn't let me wear revealing clothes."

"He cares for you and wants you to be modest."

"Ok then... My dad let's my brother stay out longer than me."

"He doesn't want anything bad to happen to his angel while she's out."

"Ok you got me there... Ah, my mom scolds me for every little-"

"She wants you to stop these bad habits now so that they aren't damaging to your future. Bad things are bad no matter how little." Bella went silent for a second. "See? When you take time to contemplate, you can see the bigger picture. It isn't that they're mean to you or harsh with you, it's that they care about you." Ken explained. Bella seeped all of this in and thought about it.

"Well sometimes my mom or dad just scream at me because they had a bad day."

"They're humans! We all get angry man. You've probably gone home one day and taken your anger out on your parents." He replied. "How about this, it's almost time for you to get going. So why don't you make a list of five pros and five cons for your parents while driving you home? I usually do this when I'm angry at a friend. I fill up the pros section and sometimes even go beyond five. But finding even one con takes hours."

"The entire book will be filled with cons." She replied. He smiled.

"We'll see. Once you realize how wrong you are, go out with your parents give them love."

    20 Minutes later:

"Bella, you ready to go now?" Asked Bella's dad.

"Yeah dad I'm ready now." She replied. She sat into the backseat of the car.

    Ken POV:

What your parents think? What would your parents think? What would your parents think.

Bella's voice repeated inside my head as I thought of what to reply to T. I had recieved a message from him saying 'aye bro, I got a couple fools who paying 10,000 for a few packets. You down? 40% yours.'

What would my parents think? What am I doing? I'm better than this.

I thought to myself as I replied with 'no.'

Im better than this. I'd rather make 10 cents through hard work than 10 grand by selling my dignity.

    I thought to myself.

Once you find your true self, you won't have a leaving this behind.

I remember Bella saying and smiled.

    Bella POV:

Dad's bossy? No that isn't right, I'm bossier than him.

I thought to myself. I writing pros and cons about my parents. I had filled the pro side completely while the cons side remained empty.

Once you realize how wrong you are, go out with your parents give them love.

    I remembered Ken telling me.

"Hey dad, want to go out tomorrow to watch a movie. Just you, me and mom?" I asked.

"I would love to!" My dad replied in Glee.

    Both POV:

I looked outside at the starry night before thinking to myself

I can't wait to hangout tomorrow.

It was a normal day for Ella. Well, that's what she thought. Little did she know that she may be able to have a better future. Under one circumstance.

    6:03 a.m.

She threw one of her white flattened down pillows at the alarm clock when it started buzzing obnoxiously and she couldn't take it anymore. However, it didn't turn off the first time, so two minutes later she finally threw the covers off of her and dragged herself out of bed. It was Monday. A day where most people dread. But not Ella. It's the day she gets to leave her house. Leave her dad. She grabbed a black pair of skinny jeans and a white Adidas shirt and changed. She grabbed her blue, pink, and white flowered backpack and went downstairs. Wrinkling her nose at the smell of her dad's cigarettes, she placed her backpack on the floor right by the steps. Her dad was slouched in the ugly dark green couch. As usual.

?It's about time you got down here.? he said as he rolled his eyes.

?It's 6:15, the same time I get down here any other school morning.? Ella replied, walking to the kitchen.

    ?Whatever.?

Ella knew better not to say anything after that. As much as she hates letting him say things like this to her as much as he does, she was pretty used to what happens if she were to continue to go back and forth with him, so instead she walks away.

Haley, one of Ellas best friends, meets Ella at her house every morning at 7:00 to walk to school together. Haley is one of the very few people who know what it's like inside Ellas house. Yes, Ella's house is beautiful on the outside. Anyone of her classmates who know where she lives think she is lucky to have a life like hers. But that's because they have no idea what her life is really like.

Ellas house smells of cigarette smoke from her dad's horrible obsession. Once in a while, the downstairs would get foggy because of the smoke but not very often. The living room consists of a black TV stand, 79? flat screen TV, a black coffee table placed directly in front of the ugly dark green couch with a small glass end table on either side of the couch. That ugly couch has burn holes on it, along with the carpet. The carpet used to be more fluffed but because of the damage done to it, it's all matted down. Well at least the tables seem nice? Ha! Nope, her dad has filled ashtrays on both of the end tables, the coffee table and somehow managed to get one on the TV stand. How he managed to do that but not empty any of them out, I don't know. There are usually a couple ashtrays on the kitchen counter but they aren't normally full. Her dad is found slouched on the couch, drinking Bud Light and flicking through the TV channels. If he isn't he is in the kitchen staggering to find a cigarette lighter. Ella got used to having to pick up empty beer bottles or cigarette packs. If she didn't, it would be like living in a junkyard...but with only beer bottles and cigarette packs.

Ella had to learn to do laundry, dishes, and taking 100% care of herself when she was 7 years old. That's because her mom left Ella and her dad for some magazine model life in Hollywood. When she left, Ellas dad completely lost it. He basically trashed his life and went downhill 100 MPH. He quit doing things for himself and taking care of Ella. He would get overly angry at Ella for some of the silliest reasons Then would blame her for things that aren't her fault, like the reason her mom left. If times he got furious with Ella, he would occasionally throw things at her or call her names that would hurt. As she grew older, she began not trusting many adults because she thought they would all be like that

    6:30 a.m.

Ella was in the kitchen preparing to make some eggs for breakfast.

?Would you like some eggs, dad?? she asked standing in the living room doorway.

?Yeah, I do.? her dad responded flatley.

?Any particular way??  this time with a slight smile.

    ?Scrambled.?

    ?K.?

Ella went back into the kitchen and whisked 6 eggs in a plastic yellow bowl, adding some skim milk for fluffiness She had the butter melting and popping in the black skillet that is set on the front left burner. Once it was fully warmed up, she poured in the fully whisked eggs. It got loud when the food hit the hot skillet, but then settled down the longer it sat. 30 seconds later, she stirred the eggs, forming themselves into chunks. About 3 minutes later, she switched off the stove and scooped the eggs on two white glass plates, her only having a little and her dad a lot. That's mainly because she isn't a breakfast person. She struggled getting the silverware drawer open but when she did, the shiny metal spoons, forks, and butter knives flew forward making a loud CLANG!

?GEEZ!? she heard her dad yell from the couch.

She quickly fixed the silverware and then carefully placed a fork on both plates, then carried her dad's food out to him.

    ?My bad.?

Ella walked back and ate her food in the kitchen, standing. After about 30 seconds her dad was yelling again.

?Are you freaking kidding me Ella!!?

    ?What?!? Ella quickly responded.

?You didn't cook these eggs all the way!!? He yelled a little louder this time.

?Yes, I did. Mine are the same way and they're fine.? Ella said, now standing in the living room doorway again.

?I'm glad you can make your own taste good but mine is like trash.? He said clearly getting angrier but the second.

?I made ours together, so it would be faster. They are the same!?

?You know you're 15, you would think you would finally understand how to do things as easy and making eggs by now You've only been doing it for a whopping 8 years!?

?Listen to yourself! You sound ridiculous. You said it yourself, I've been doing things like this for the last 8 years while you just sit on the couch like a slug and never appreciate anything I do for you! And just to put it out there, if it should be this easy for me to do, then it should be just as easy if not easier for YOU to do!?

?What did you just say to me.? He responded in a deep tone, standing up.

?You heard EXACTLY what I said to you, no need to repeat myself when I said it loud and clear enough the first time.? Ella snapped back.

Ellas dad came lunging at her and grabbed her hair and yanked it. She let out a loud cry as he ripped out a small, but noticeable chunk of hair.

?Yuck!? He yelled, throwing the loose hair on the ground.

?Maybe you shouldn't have yanked it out then.?

Maybe you should learn how to talk and respect me then.? He shot back.

?What?! Other than right now, how am I not respecting you? I was planning on making breakfast, but instead of only thinking of myself, I decided to ask you if you wanted some too. I made you food, got it ready for you, and then brought it to you without you even saying, ?thank you?. You NEVER appreciate what I do for you! You don't like how I make food, then maybe you should just make your own food from now on.?

?I don't need to appreciate anything you do for me. Your mother used to make me amazing food all the time, and never failed me. The only reason she left is because of YOU! YOU'RE the reason why my life is a reck! So the least you could do for me is make me food, clean my house, and get me what I want.?

Ellas eyes were filled now, fighting back her tears and trying to ignore her dad's words. She doesn't say anything after that. Silently, she walks over by the staircase and throws on her shoes and backpack. Ella tries walking out of the house to leave for school early but her dad pushes her away from the door. Ella falls back into the corner of the end table with a loud THUD! She goes to touch the back of her head that hit the corner of the table and she closes her eyes tightly to stop herself from crying due to the burning feeling. When she pulls her hand away from her head, she sees a little blood. Her dad saw it too, and walked to the kitchen without saying a word. Ella gets up and leaves the house slamming the door behind her.

    6:52

8 minutes before she meets with Haley. Ella walks over to the sidewalk at the end of her driveway and whips out her phone and texts Haley: R u on ur way

Within seconds, Haley replies: Ya y?

Ella quickly texts back: I'll explain on the way to school. Keep walking to my house..I'll meet u on the way

    ?K.?

Ella starts walking and then sees Haley walking quicker than normal. Ella was now in tears and Haley hugs her tightly. She noticed Ellas head was bleeding when she put her hand on Ellas head for more comfort.

?What the heck happened?! Your head is bleeding!?

Ella explains the entire morning to Haley.

?That freaking jerk!!? Haley yelled instantly mad.

? Yeah, I know.? Ella said, feeling guilty.

?Do you think you're going to need stitches??

?No. I can put some antibiotic ointment on it when I get home.?

?No. I'm not going to let you go back to that jail cell after what happened.?

?Seriously, it's fine. I'll get over it soon, okay??

?No, not ?okay?. You shouldn't have to ?get over it?, this shouldn't even be happening to you.?

    ?Yeah, I know but??

    ?But what??

    ?I don't even know anymore.?

?Maybe you should talk to someone..?

?You know how I feel about that.?

?Yes, I do, but maybe it's not so bad? You're older now, they will listen to you.

?But neither of us know that..?

?Would you rather keep getting hurt like this? He isn't going to get better Ella..?

    ?No, not really.?

?Exactly, so again, maybe you should talk to someone. I'll even come with you, both for support and to make sure they listen to you.?

    ?Let me think, ok??

    ?Alright.?

Ella and Haley walked the rest of the way silent. Ellas mind was everywhere. She's never liked the idea of talking to an adult about home. When she was younger, about 8 or so, she tried telling one of the teachers at school, but all they did was called her dad and asked him about it. Obviously he denied everything. When she got home that day, her dad threatened her if she ever told again. He then told her she is never allowed to move out, and that she'd better enjoy her school years because after them, she's not allowed out of the house. Since then, she's never opened her mouth about home, to anyone but Haley and Maci.

However, Haley and Maci don't know the threat her dad gave her, because she didn't want them to worry. As she's getting older, the way her dad treats her is getting worse. Ella wanted to tell someone but never had the guts to do it. She liked the fact that Haley was willing to go with her if and when she decided to go.

    7:30 a.m.

Haley and Ella arrived at school 7:30 sharp. That gave them time to talk and hangout with their friends until 8:15, when school started. They walk over to the red table to meet Maci.

?Hey!? Haley said to Maci. Ella just smiled. Trying to hold back tears.

?Hi, geez El, you look rough.? Maci said, instantly regretted it once she saw Ellas face.

She couldn't hold it anymore. Ella broke down in tears. Not because she was mad at Maci, but because it was just not a good morning.

?I'm sorry, El, I didn't mean to make you upset.? Maci said, walking to give Ella a hug.

?It's ok, it's not your fault.? Ella responded, accepting the hug.

?Your dad?? Maci whispered in Ellas' ear. Ella nodded.

?I told her she should maybe talk to someone, and that I'd go with ehr, but if it helps, you can come too.? Haley said. Maci nodded in agreement.

?Do you want to see if there is someone here you feel comfortable with to talk to, now? That way, it's out of the way.? Haley asked Ella.

?Yeah, I guess.? Ella responded quietly.

?Is there someone here you think you can trust?? Haley asked.

    ?Well, there's Mrs. Trace.?

    ?Okay, lets go.?

?Maci, can you come too?? Ella asked.

    ?Of course.?

The three of them walked to Mrs. Traces classroom. Haley knocked on the partially opened door.

?Come in, hon.? Mrs. Trace said after glancing to see who it was.

Now, the three girls walked in.

?How can I help you young ladies??

?Actually we were wondering if we could talk to you...about something personal.? Haley said.

?Of course you can, you've got me until 8:30, when my first class comes in. If you're going to need more time, I will be available again from 11:00- 12:30 and, of course, after school.?

    ?Thank you.? Maci said.

    ?Now, what's going on??

Haley and Maci started things off simply that Ella has been having issues at home.

?I see, Ella would everything, beginning to end?? Mrs. Trace asked with a worried look. She quickly reached in her top drawer and grabbed out a pad of large sticky notes and a pen to take notes.

Ella first started off by saying what happened this morning. Mrs. Trace used to be a nurse so she was able to help Ella with the cut on her head.

Ella explained everything to her two minutes before 8:30.

?How about you come to my room about 11:00 and we'll think of some sort of plan together. I do need to email the principal about this. He will call someone to help get you out of that home? Mrs. Trace said.

?Okay, thank you so much.? Ella responded.

?I'm really sorry to hear all this, Ella. It breaks my heart just thinking about how you must feel. You're a really brave person, and for you to come talk to me says a lot more than I could explain.?

?Thank you, but without my friends' help, I don't think I would have been able to do this.?

?Well, you have two of the greatest friends in the world for that.?

?Yes, thank you, see you at 11:00??

    ?Yes!?

Ella nodded and then Haley and Maci took Ella by the hand and they walked to first hour class.

    11:00 a.m.

It came sooner that she thought. Ella was now in Mrs. Traces room, both thinking what to do. The principal was going to meet with Ella and Mrs. Trace at 11:15.

?Do you have any other family members you could stay with?? Mrs. Trace asked.

? Not really, I have a very small family. My little brother is in foster care but the nearest one they could get him in was 12 hours from here. That was a while ago though. I really don't want to leave Haley and Maci. They are the closest people I've got to family.?

?Well, if we get it approved, why don't you stay with me? I've got an extra bedroom and two cats. But if you don't feel comfortable with it, then you don't have to.?

?You don't have to do that.?

?You're right, I don't. But I want you to have a wonderful future. I want to find a way to give you back the years you missed. Plus, I could use someone to look forward to seeing and talking to after a long day of teaching. And it would be fun to have movie nights together, cook dinner together, and you would be able to have your friends over when you'd like without having to worry about anything.?

?I would absolutely love that.? Ella said, smiling.

After talking with the principal and the CPS it was approved by the end of the day for Ella to live with Mrs. Trace. An officer and Mrs. Trace took Ella to her dads to get all her stuff and say her goodbyes. Her dad was now facing his own problems, which were now, none that Ella would have to deal with.
